Welcome to the 2009 North Carolina
4th Of July Celebration
Southport-Oak Island and Southeastern North Carolina invite you and your friends and family to experience the many activities that are a part of the 37th annual North Carolina Fourth of July Festival held in Southport, July 1-4, 2009. The first Independence Day celebration in Southport, called the "Festival of Free Men", occurred 214 years ago. Ever since, the community has maintained a strong tradition of celebrating the 4th of July with appropriate activities and observances.Beginning with Beach Day on Oak Island on the 1st and concluding with a grand display of fireworks at the Southport waterfront on the evening of the 4th, there is something for everybody during this exciting and patriotic Festival. Come celebrate our freedom during Southport's signature 4th of July parade, honor our veterans during a Veterans Recognition Ceremony at the Southport Community Building, and welcome new citizens at the ever-popular Naturalization Ceremony at Fort Johnston. Come enjoy the arts and crafts as well as great entertainment on the waterfront stage and let the kids enjoy the many children's activities scheduled throughout the Festival. And participate in flag ceremonies that remind us that freedom is never free. The North Carolina 4th of July Festival: Where history, art, celebration and patriotism come together every year on the banks of the Cape Fear River. We look forward to seeing you there! source : nc4thofjuly.com visit anytime : www.brendakingrealtor.com
